2’s room

At this age, kids are mainly learning through their senses and through play. They learn colors, simple words for animals and objects, and basic ideas like big/small or hot/cold, usually through songs, stories, and hands-on exploration like touching, stacking, and messy play. They start learning to recognize and name their feelings, like being sad or mad, because teachers help put words to those emotions. They also begin picking up small self-help skills, like trying to pour water, choosing between two toys, or washing their own hands. Socially, they're learning to be around other kids, even if they're mostly playing next to each other rather than together.

3’s room

Three-year-olds build on all of that but start learning a bit more structure. They begin recognizing letters and numbers through games, like matching or counting snacks, and start noticing patterns and shapes in everyday things. They learn to use words to express feelings instead of just reacting, like saying "I'm mad" instead of hitting. They start learning to take turns and share, and begin actually playing with other kids instead of just alongside them. They also learn small independence skills, like getting dressed, cleaning up their toys, and trying calming strategies like deep breaths when upset.

Pre k room

By Pre-K, kids are learning letter sounds, early sight words, and how to "read" simple picture books. In math, they learn to count higher, recognize patterns, compare sizes, and understand simple addition through games. They learn to follow multi-step directions and manage their own belongings and materials. Socially, they learn to work with partners, handle group projects, and think through problems with friends instead of reacting physically. They also build fine motor skills, like writing their name and using scissors, and start learning the kind of independence and routine-following that helps them get ready for kindergarten.
